How To Care For Fresh Flowers In Malaysia’s Warm Weather

Fresh flowers need a little attention after delivery, especially when they move between a warm car, an air-conditioned office and a home. You do not need a complicated routine. Give them a clean water source and a comfortable indoor spot, and check the arrangement regularly.

First, Identify Your Arrangement

A wrapped fresh bouquet, a flower box with floral foam and a keepsake arrangement need different care. Check the product description or any care instructions supplied. If you are unsure where the stems sit or whether the flowers are fresh, send our florist a photo before adding water or removing supports.

Our soap rose and artificial flower collection contains keepsake designs. These are not cared for like fresh cut flowers. Preserved flowers also need their own product-specific instructions.

Set Up A Clean Vase For A Fresh Bouquet

  1. Use a clean vase with fresh water.
  2. Carefully remove wrapping that prevents the stems from sitting in water, while leaving decorative supports in place if you are unsure.
  3. Remove leaves that would sit below the waterline.
  4. Trim the stem ends with a clean, sharp tool before placing them in the vase.
  5. If flower food is supplied, follow its instructions and use the stated amount of water.

Check the water daily and refresh it regularly, especially when it looks cloudy. Clean the vase when changing the water, and remove spent flowers or fallen leaves. Different flowers age at different rates, so one tired stem does not mean the whole bouquet needs to be discarded.

Choose A Cooler Indoor Display Spot

Keep your flowers away from direct sun, hot windows, cooking heat and ripening fruit. A bright room does not mean the vase has to sit on a sunny windowsill. Avoid placing it directly under a strong air-conditioning vent or fan.

When taking a bouquet home after a celebration, minimise the time it spends in a parked car. Carry it carefully, keep it upright and return it to a suitable water source once you arrive. If you are planning a long journey, ask us how your particular arrangement should travel.

Care For A Flower Box Without Soaking It

If a fresh flower box uses floral foam, keep the foam lightly moist. Add water slowly and carefully to the foam, keeping it away from the decorative box, wrapping and other items. Do not fill the box like a vase or pull the arrangement apart to inspect it.

Browse the flower box collection for different designs, but check the materials used in the arrangement you actually received. Some boxes include keepsake flowers or gifts that must stay dry.

Keep Keepsake Flowers Dry

Soap roses, artificial flowers and many preserved arrangements do not need vase water. Keep them dry, handle them gently and avoid direct sunlight. Follow any instructions supplied for the specific product rather than applying fresh-flower care to every arrangement.

Ask About The Bouquet You Received

Flower life varies with the flower type, its stage of opening and the conditions around it. We do not promise the same number of days for every bouquet. If something looks unusual after delivery, contact us promptly with the bouquet name and a clear photo so we can give relevant advice.
